these programs usually are used to work on static models (e.g. a MesH or a NurbS sufrace). but most of them today also support ProceduralModel s. but there is no format for them, or is there? afaik they are internal to the apps. one perhaps interesting way to think of programmatic models is to have them as objects, with properties for having the shape etc. and methods for manipulation (and animation) - perhaps something like SoyaPlant or the upcoming SoyaEscalator. some BlenderPython guy also mentioned the possibility of having python 3d objects there ..
